Update 5

It's been a while since my last update but I have made significant progress in that time. I 3D modelled a door and a door handle in 3DS Max, added them into my unreal engine 4.27.2 world which I intended to make my opening and closing door. I watched a video on how to make a door in VR UE4, and that helped me make my own.
Problems I encountered along the way were, first, trying to convert my door from 3DS Max to Unreal but I quickly realised all I needed to do was export it as an fbx file, email it to myself, and then add it to my google drive. I have to do all that because I only have access to a MacBook and my 3DS Max is downloaded on Windows which I access via Bootcamp on MacOS. Another problem I faced was that my door had multiple meshes, so when I added it to UE4 I couldn't use a physics constraint because there was more than one mesh. The way I fixed this problem was by going back into 3DS Max and attaching all the meshes together using boolean. This brought up another problem which I was willing to accept defeat with, the problem being adding a separate texture to each area of the door. The final big problem which I also haven't been able to figure out yet is how to set up my Oculus Quest 2 so I can test out my door and when my shooting range and score system is set up.
As of right now, I have a door that rotates 90 degrees in either direction around a physical constraint that you grab to open. I'm currently working on my VR shooting range which I only started today. I currently have an object that should move side to side, however, I can't test it out without being able to connect my Oculus Quest and my MacBook, and in 3DS Max I have made a mannequin that I intend to be the target. I'm using a very useful video on how I create this shooting range.
Hopefully by my next update my door should have a handle that can open and close the door rather than the door just being grabbed to open and then doesn't close. Also hopefully my shooting range has moving targets that you can shoot, you get given points depending on where you hit the mannequin (e.g. headshot is 10pts and a bodyshot is 5pts). I also hope that by my next update I will be able to test my door and shooting range with a VR headset on, whether that be on my laptop or a university computer.
