Update 7

With other projects of mine finally getting completed, I can finally put more of my focus on completing my VR project, and hopefully make these updates more frequent and linear. After recent issue on this course, we have now been given the option to add two more feature to our VR instead of making an AR game. This is an opportunity that I am taking as with my current skills, I believe I can produce a better product from the VR options over the AR one.

The two extra options that I have decided to choose are the menu screen and the movement customisation. For the menu screen I hope to have three options minimum, these being a resume, settings and exit game. In the settings I want to add a brightness, volume and possibly resolution. This is all dependent on how I manage my time and how I can develop my skills before the deadline. When it comes to the movement customisation, I want to make it so that the user can move by moving the joystick in any direction. When the joystick is pushed in a certain direction the player should move in that direction. Again, depending on how ambitious I am come closer to the deadline, making the player move fast going forward than backwards is something I would like to add.

Luckily, in the latest workshop I was finally able to test out my game. With my project taking a long time to load, and myself only having a limited slot to use the computers that can use VR headsets in Unreal Engine, I was only able to test out a limited amount of my game so far. I found out that my manakin is moving from side to side perfectly well, however, there was no score on screen which is a problem I am going to have to attend some time to. As well as this, my Unreal Engine crashed after not much time so I wasn't able to test out my door. My door wasn't at a point of proper testing anyways, so this is not a big issue and I will try and complete it for the next time that I use I test out my game.

With lots to do, and not a long time to go until the deadline, I am going to have to start managing my time better. Hopefully by the next update, I will have made changes so that my score system will theoretically work (theoretically as I am currently unable to use any computers that can run unreal engine with a VR headset for around three weeks). I also hope to have tried out different ways of making my door open, until I find one that I can code with my current skills and that works effectively. I also want to make a start on the menu screen, possible getting that completed depending on how difficult I find it to make. Personally, I want to priorities the other three tasks before I start to work on the movement customisation. Leaving myself too many tasks to do before the next update will just be too unrealistic, so I will just set out on these three before then.
